The Department maintains field and laboratory equipment for the measurement of permeability (Guelph constant head well permeameter with tension plate attachments) and soil water matric potential (hanging water columns and tensiometers). This equipment is used to characterize the hydraulic properties of spatially variable soils for analysis of vadose zone water budget and flow processes.
