Prof. Lang named to state council on diversity in higher education admissions
Governor of Massachusetts Maura Healy named Kevin Lang, the Lawrence A. Bloom Professor of Economics, to the Advisory Council for the Advancement of Representation in Education. The Council is a new state initiative formed in anticipation of important changes in the legality of race-based higher education admissions criteria coming from the Supreme Court. From the state’s announcement, “The Advisory Council will work with the administration to ensure Massachusetts will always be open, welcoming, and inclusive of students of color and other students typically underrepresented in higher education. … The Advisory Council for the Advancement of Representation in Education is made up of stakeholders with expertise in higher education; civil rights advocacy; diversity, equity and inclusion work; and the experiences of students of color.”
