What is EK 200?
EK 200 is an optional peer mentor program (not a class) designed to help guide and support ENG sophomores as they start out in their second year at BU. Through this program, you will be assigned two ENG junior or senior student mentors, who will become guides for you throughout the fall semester. They will organize 2 small-group outings during the fall semester with all of their mentees, such as group dinners or fun activities (like bowling or rock climbing), paid for by the College of Engineering! So, not only will you get to have two student mentors, but you will also be getting to know the other sophomores in your group!
What is the commitment for this program?
EK 200 is fully optional for sophomores. If you opt in to the program, what you choose to attend is totally up to you! Your mentor will work with your group on scheduling 2 small-group outings, so that way you can attend anything that is planned for your group. There will also be large-group events throughout the semester for all groups to attend, and any sophomore not in EK 200. These are also optional, with more information found on this calendar.
Who are my mentors?
Your mentors are junior or senior ENG students, many of whom participated in EK 200 when they were a sophomore. They are very knowledgeable about both ENG and BU resources, and are available for you to reach out to if you have questions or want a student perspective from someone who has been in your shoes. Your mentors will be assigned to you after you sign up for the program.
How can I sign up?
You can sign up for EK 200 using the form found at the top of the page. Additionally, EK 200 mentors will have a table set up at the ENG Block Party on Friday, September 8 from 4-6pm, where you can sign up in-person and ask them questions about the program and what to expect as an EK 200 participant!
Are large-group events open to sophomores not in EK 200?
Yes! Even if you would not like to sign up to receive a mentor for the fall, you are still strongly encouraged to attend the events we have planned this fall. Check them out on this calendar.
Are events online or in-person?
EK 200 is fully in-person!
