Get ready to register for classes

  1. Set up your BU email account. All your program, class and department communications will come through your BU email. If you have a BU email account, continue to use it.
  2. Students who have accepted the offer for Fall 2024 before March 11th will be receiving an email from ithelp@bu.edu the week of March 11th to set up BU email address and Kerberos password. Students who accept the offer for Fall 2024 after March 11th will receive an email from ithelp@bu.edu 24-48 hours after accepting the offer of admission. This email will have directions to set up BU email address and Kerberos password.
  3. Contact your faculty advisor or academic program manager to discuss your course plan.
  4. Register for your courses via MyBU Student Portal based on the University calendar.
  5. Submit photo for your Terrier Card ID.

Save the Date:

  1. New Graduate Student Orientation is Friday, August 30, 2024. Watch for invitations to orientation from the Graduate Programs Office and your department.
  2. It is required that you attend orientation. Please RSVP for the orientation here.

Setting up BU compliance on MyBU Student Portal. Be sure to:

  1. Update or input your phone number.
  2. Update or input your local address.
  3. Electronically sign the Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Law acknowledgement form.
  4. If you want to opt out of the Sports Pass, cancel this pass. For individualized information regarding your Sports Pass, or to cancel your Sports Pass, visit the Student Link.

Health Insurance

  1. Provide required immunizations and health records to Student Health Services.
  2. Select a health insurance option through MyBU Student Portal or submit an opt out form with the required documents to Student Account Services.

Finding Housing around BU.

  1. Consider the neighborhoods around BU.
  2. Use this housing resources webpage to start your search.
  3. Submit Graduate Housing Application if needed.

Financial Assistance

  1. Domestic Master’s students only. If you are interested in federal or private financial assistance, fill out your FAFSA and submit it to code:002130. Connect with the Associate Director of Financial Aid in the Graduate Programs Office.

When you arrive on campus

  1. Turn in final official transcripts, to the Graduate Programs Office. Sealed transcripts should show that your previous degrees have been conferred.
  2. If you need a MBTA or parking pass apply for a pass through BU’s transportation webpage.
  3. Pick-up your BU ID. It’s called a Terrier card after BU’s mascot, a terrier dog.
  4. Get a Student Associate of Graduate Engineering (SAGE) sticker to attend SAGE events. Come to the Graduate Programs Office, and bring your ID.
  5. Explore BU’s campus! Get to know your way around. Use this map link if you need help.

Additional Requirements

  1. Each student is responsible for becoming familiar with regulations at the College of Engineering as stated in the College of Engineering Bulletin.
  2. Students are also responsible for becoming familiar with specific requirements as stated by their individual department or program of study.
