Title: "Luminescence Detection in eVOLVER for Autonomous Bioreactor Control"

Abstract: We present an enhancement to eVOLVER, a DIY bioreactor, by integrating a photo-transistor module for luminescence detection, enabling autonomous control of multiple parallel culture samples. This addition aims to expand eVOLVER's functionality, particularly in Phage Assisted Continuous Evolution (PACE) platforms. We describe the design, implementation, and limitations of this luminescence detection system. Preliminary tests on isolated PACE modules demonstrate the system's potential to improve biomolecule evolution efficiency with reduced hands-on time. This advancement holds promise for accelerating directed evolution experiments and increasing their viability.
