Network Data Trustee

Responsibilities of the Network Data Trustee

The network Data Trustee is the administrative officer responsible for authorizing who has access to departmental files and folders on the network. This also includes the periodic review of that authorization.

The Data Trustee must submit written requests to the Network Administrator when:

• Identify the department’s need to store or access Confidential or Restricted Use data
• Respond to requests for access to departmental data. Before permitting access, the Data Trustee must confirm the requestor has a legitimate business reason for accessing the data
• Approve the minimum access or authorization necessary for the requestor’s needs
• Comply with request from ESO Network Operations to audit user access and verify that all approved access is still valid and appropriate
• In the event a Data Trustee is unavailable to fulfill the responsibilities above, the executive or department head must designate an alternate until the Data Trustee is available again.
