SecureMail – E-mail Privacy

eso-banner-3

Since standard e-mail programs do not adequately protect messages from being intercepted by or misrouted to unauthorized individuals, ESO has implemented the use of a secure e-mail gateway, SecureMail.

SecureMail provides secure, trackable e-mail communications with co-workers, colleges, clients, or vendors. It uses strong encryption to protect sensitive data. Implementation is easy and it integrates into the Outlook e-mail client for ease of use.

Confidential Information

Confidential information is anything personally identifiable which can be linked back to a student and which could facilitate a breach of privacy or identity theft, including a student’s name, UID number, address, date of birth, and Social Security number.

Requesting SecureMail for Your Department

If you wish to request SecureMail for your department’s use, have your director or Data Trustee send an e-mail to the ESO Network Administrator. Include a description of the project for which SecureMail will be used, along with the names and e-mail addresses of staff that will need an account activated.
