Phacoemulsification Video Primer

This tutorial provides a step by step video introduction to coaxial phacoemulsification. As the name suggests, this guide is aimed at beginning phaco surgeons and residents. All video was collected from resident surgeon cases here at Boston Medical Center, to help provide the viewing surgeon with a realistic target of soon to be acquired skills.

Phacoemulsification can only truly by learned through attended surgical experience. This primer is intended only as a guide, and all surgical techniques and decisions should first be discussed with your attending or training personnel. Likewise, the reader should supplement this material with a comprehensive textbook(s) on phacoemulsification.

Finally, this primer is continuously being updated, as new techniques and pearls are added.
