Revisions to the Constitution of the Faculty Assembly/Faculty Council

Dear Faculty Assembly Members,

You received a Qualtrics ballot from Faculty Council on Friday, November 15, 2019, for consideration and approval of revisions to the Constitution of the Faculty Assembly/Faculty Council.  The ballot consisted of three questions and votes were recorded anonymously. You also received a link to the Faculty Council website that outlined the proposed changes and provided markup and clean copies of the 2019/2020 proposed revisions and the 2012 edition of the Constitution. Assembly members also received several reminders to vote.

Per the Constitution, a majority of the Assembly must cast a vote and that two-thirds of those voting must approve the revisions before the Constitution. The Assembly vote must be forwarded to the Board of Trustees for final approval. Based on the data provided by the Office of Institutional Research, there were 3,258 members of Faculty Assembly when the poll launched.

The poll closed on April 7, 2020. On that date, 1,678 members of the Faculty Assembly had cast their votes.  All of the ballot questions passed with 88–91% approval.

On April 17, 2020, the Board of Trustees accepted the Assembly’s vote and approved the changes to the Constitution.

Sincerely,
