April 2018 Employees of the Month
Meet April’s Employees of the Month!
We have now reached the final month of the Employees of the Month program for the 2017-2018 academic year! Our student employees play a big part in making sure that your experiences at FitRec are nothing but amazing. It’s certainly not easy balancing work and school, but our students make it look easy! We appreciate all of the hard work they put in and their great attitudes. Each month, full-time staff members from various departments nominate student workers who have shown exemplary work ethic within the past month. The winner’s for this month will receive gift bags, which include T-Anthony’s gift certificates and FitRec Swag. Take a look at April’s winners and read about the reasons why they were chosen!
Aquatics: Amy Koch
Amy has been an exemplary lifeguard this past month, and since she started this fall. She is always smiling, loves guarding lessons with kids, and is always rescue ready. She performs her duties both on and off the pool deck. After leaving our mandatory In-Service last month, Amy witnessed a fellow student fall off their skateboard and break their leg. She came to their help, called EMS, and remained calm and positive with him while they waited. We are lucky to have her!
Climbing: Joey Shim
Joey couldn’t help us set routes for the competition because he was competing, so instead, he spent several hours cleaning holds; a messy and tiring job. He’s also done an excellent job teaching some of our higher level youth classes, and brings an unremitting positive attitude to the wall.
Intramurals: Courtney Conyers
Courtney is a new supervisor to our staff, receiving promotion at the mid-way point this year due to staffing needs. She has a strong work-ethic and a great knowledge of soccer and softball. As a young supervisor on our staff, we look for Courtney to continue to grow and disperse her skills and knowledge to the other referees over the next two years.
Business Admin: Dominika Marczak
Nika is the first of her kind in the business office. While every student prior to her was either a financial analyst or a payroll assistant, Nika is the first student to perform both roles. She came on board last summer, a time when all of her supervisors were in and out of the office, meaning she worked 40 hour work weeks with little to no supervision as she learned her two jobs! She is constantly looking for ways to improve processes, and has extremely high attention to detail with some of the most sensitive information with which PERD deals. She is so well trusted that she now acts as a trainer for new students in the business office. Nika’s commitment to her responsibilities, capability of going above and beyond, and positive and professional demeanor makes her more than deserving of student of the month!
Pro-Shop: Sidney McKenzie
Sidney is a helpful and friendly part of the Pro Shop. She’s always willing to lend a hand or make our inventory look perfect! Thanks for your dedication, Sidney!
Facilities: Olivia Stoddard
Olivia is a fourth year senior and possibly the most enthusiastic person about FitRec. She is a supervisor on staff and will continue into next year as the membership GA. Great work, Olivia! We’re so happy you’re part of the team for another year.
EMS: Maxwell Baker
Despite this being Max’s first semester at BUEMS, he very quickly established himself as an indispensable member of our staff. Several times, Max impressed us by picking up open shifts on very short notice. Max’s attitude towards the job is also great. It seems like every time he sees a patient, the two are best friends by the end of the encounter. Customer service is something that is very important to us at BUEMS, and we were very impressed by how Max handled his interactions with patients. Keep up the good work, Max!
Fitness: Victoria Rodriguez
She has worked with us for the past few years and has always been an exceptional worker! She is always punctual and willing to go the extra mile on her shifts.
