Exercises for Maintaining Healthy Knees with Rick
Strengthening the muscles around your knees and doing exercises that target the knee flexion function of the hamstrings is essential to keeping your knees healthy and protected. Try these few exercises to begin your healthy knee journey.
Stability Ball Leg Curls
- Lie on the floor with your palms down on the ground.
- Rest your feet on the stability ball.
- Inhale, and bend your knees, roll the ball towards your glutes.
- Exhale and roll the ball back out.
- Keep your back and hips off the floor and straight throughout the exercise.
- Try 2 sets x 12 reps
Heel Slides
- Lie down on the floor with your leg flat.
- Place the foot of the extended leg on a towel.
- Slowly begin to slide your heel toward your buttocks, keeping your heel on the floor.
- Continue to slide your heel and bend your knee until you feel tension in the back of the leg.
- Hold this position for a few seconds.
- Slide your heel back down until your leg is straight on the floor.
- Try 2 sets x 10 reps
