Hip Lifts with Rick

Hip lifts, demonstrated by Rick DiScipio, Assistant Manger of Fitness, are designed to build a pain-free foundation for more activity and help improve back strength.
This exercise can be done laying on your back with your feet flat on the floor, or elevated on another surface like a bench or stability ball.

1. Lie on your back, bending both legs at the knee and placing your feet flat on the floor. If necessary, place a small pillow underneath the neck and head for support.
2. Slowly lift your pelvis and lower back upward. Be sure to keep your shoulders and upper body on the floor.
3. Gradually lower your back and pelvis toward the floor.
4. For an extra challenge, place your feet on a stability ball, as demonstrated in the video.
5. Perform 3 sets x 10 reps
