Ice Skating
Open Skating
Open skating is offered during fall/spring semesters at the Walter Brown Arena, located in the Case Center at 285 Babcock Street. Skaters may bring their own skates, or a limited number and sizes of adult and youth skates are available for rent (availability not guaranteed). Skate rentals are $7 per person (all ages). We accept Apple Pay and all major credit cards at the Walter Brown Arena skate shop located on ice level. Day passes purchased by or for any person under 16 MUST be purchased on the account of their parent/guardian AND that person must be accompanied on-ice by someone 18 or older. Photo ID required for all users including BU students and FitRec Members.
Please note: hockey sticks or pucks are NOT allowed during open skate hours.

“How To” Open Skate
Full-time BU student or FitRec members: If bringing your own skates, simply report to the door to the ice and present your ID to receive your wristband. If you need to rent skates you can do so at the rental shop located on ice level. Present your ID and pay for your skates with credit card or Apple Pay. You will receive your wristband at the skate shop if renting skates.
Non members/Non-Full Time Students: Purchase your Skating Day pass online here (available day of skate only). After purchasing your Skating Day Pass, if you have your own skates you can proceed to the ice doors and show ID to receive your wristband. If you need to rent skates you can do so at the rental shop located on ice level. Present your ID and pay for your skates with credit card or Apple Pay. You will receive your wristband at the skate shop if renting skates.
