Karen Brouhard, LICSW, CEAP

Karen Brouhard joined the FSAO as a counselor over ten years ago and became the director in 2019.  She is a Licensed, Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who earned her Master of Social Work degree from Smith College in 1989.  She has worked in a variety of educational, medical, and mental health settings. Her experience includes co-directing the Center for Violence Prevention and Recovery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and serving as a Lecturer in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.  Karen’s interests include stress and burnout, psychological resilience, and mindfulness.  She loves the arts, particularly music and dance, and finds sustenance in her meditation practice and sangha.

 

 

Sarah Henderson, LICSW, CEAP

Sarah Henderson is a Licensed, Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and yoga.  Sarah joined FSAO in 2020 after many years in private practice. She received her Master of Social Work Degree from Simmons in 2002 and has over 20 years of experience providing individual and couples counseling. Sarah is passionate about social justice and strives to create a welcoming and inclusive space for people to explore different aspects of their mental health and identity. Sarah has a strong interest in health and wellness and is a certified yoga teacher. Her own yoga practice and training are a wonderful complement to her interactive and collaborative counseling style.  Sarah enjoys spending time with family, traveling, walks with her dog, and reading nonfiction. 

 

 

 

Colleen McGuire, MSW
Clinical Intake Coordinator

EAP Specialist Colleen McGuire joined the FSAO in 2019.  She is the first point of contact for most employees who contact the office and helps people identify and access the resources and services that will be most helpful to them.  Colleen provides administrative support to the office as well as outreach to the community.  Colleen has a strong interest in identifying resources and supports for LGBTQIA+ employees, particularly those seeking to affirm their gender in the workplace.  Before joining BU, Colleen worked for 14 years visiting families with newborns and leading community playgroups.  She recently fulfilled a longtime goal of earning her MSW from BU SSW.  Outside of work, Colleen enjoys bicycling, reading, and making or looking at art.
