Iyabo Masha

Dr. Iyabo Masha is the Director of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development (G-24). From 2019-2022, she was a member of Nigeria’s 8 – person Presidential Economic Advisory Council, which directly advises the President on economic policy. In that role, she provided leadership to the Council’s work on global economic spillovers, financial and capital markets and sustainable development policies.

Prior to that, she worked on a range of countries at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) negotiating IMF lending programs and developing non-program policies for emerging market and low-income economies in Africa and Asia.  She also served as IMF Resident Representative for Sierra Leone. Dr. Masha joined IMF from the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2003, following a career focused on monetary policy and operations, reserve management, and research. Her research focus are macroeconomic and systemic risks, monetary and financial stability, debt sustainability, trade, regional integration, and the long-run growth. She has authored and contributed to several publications, and she speaks regularly to diverse audiences on topical issues. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the American University, Washington DC.

Dr. Masha is also a member of the Task Force on Climate, Development and the IMF.
