Laurissa Mühlich is a Non-resident Fellow of the Global Economic Governance Initiative. She is a co-author of the Global Financial Safety Net Tracker, co-produced by the Boston University Global Development Policy Center and the Freie Universität Berlin.

Her fields of expertise are development policy and development economics, international finance and regional monetary cooperation. Her current research focuses on the coverage of the Global Financial Safety Net for different country income groups and types of crises as well as on central bank currency swaps in crisis finance.

She has worked extensively on comparative analyses of various regional financial arrangements and other elements of the Global Financial Safety Net. Her publications include, “Safety for Whom? The Scattered Global Financial Safety Net and the Role of Regional Financial Arrangements” and “No One Left Behind? Assessing the Global Financial Safety Net Performance During COVID-19.”

She is the author of “Advancing Regional Monetary Cooperation – The Case of Fragile Financial Markets.”

Dr. Laurissa Mühlich accomplished her PhD in economics at Freie Universität Berlin and Yale University.
