Stephen Paduano is a Global China Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science and is an economist at the Finance for Development Lab. His academic research focuses on Chinese macroeconomic policy, as well as Chinese investment and development policy in sub-Saharan Africa. He has taught China & The Global South and International Political Economy at LSE and Global Development: Theory, Policy, Practice at Sciences Po.
In addition to his academic research, Stephen works on the reform of the International Financial Institutions, with a focus on the use of Special Drawing Rights. He was previously a consultant to the UN Economic Commission for Africa, the Executive Director of the LSE Global Economic Governance Commission and a member of the Economic Policy Advisor Committee of the 2020 Biden campaign. He has written for The Atlantic, The Economist, The Financial Times, Le Monde, El Pais, The Washington Post and others.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Stephen received an MSc with distinction from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA with honors from Stanford University.
