Timon Forster is a former Post-doctoral Research Fellow with the Global Economic Governance Initiative (GEGI) at the Boston University Global Development Policy Center. He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. In his dissertation, he showed how deliberation in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) impacts upon the design of lending programs. Timon has published on various aspects of the IMF and international financial institutions, including the decision-making processes and the socio-economic consequences of their policy advice. Within GEGI, he is examining the IMF’s role in fighting climate change. More broadly, Timon’s research interests focus on the political economy of international organizations, development and health, using a mixture of methods including regression analysis, text-as-data and expert interviews.
