Running & Marathons

jogging

Geneva is a great city for running! You have so many choices:

Lakeside – at the lake turn right and go along the Quai Gustave Ador and the Quai du Cologny, or go left through the Jardin Anglais, across the Mont Blanc bridge and along the Quai du Mont Blanc to the Perle du Lac.  This is flat, but be careful because it gets very crowded with tourists and bikes.  If you want to jog in the countryside you can take the Bus C to Puplinge, from here you will find flat terrain with quiet villages and farms  – runners paradise!

If you want to get in a group try:

-Geneva Hash House Harriers: social running group for men and women. Runs organised in and around Geneva and sometimes parts of France.

La Voie Verte

La Voie Verte is a dedicated bicycle and pedestrian track linking Annemasse in France to Eaux-Vives in Geneva.  It runs above the subway section of the Leman Express train service. Great for cycling, jogging and walking!

The best way to get to it is to go along the lake to the Parc des Eaux-Vives.  Go up through the park and tennis club and you will come out onto a main road.  Turn right and then left where you see a sign – Pharmacie de Richemont.  Follow through to the right and you will find yourself on the other side at the beginning of the Voie Verte.

It is about 6kms long and there are several roads with pedestrian crossings. The border crossing is at the river Foron and is indicated on the bridge with a letter G for Geneve and an S for Savoie – France.
