Lost or Stolen
If you lose or have something stolen during your stay you should do the following:
Get a pen and paper and make a list of the missing items and their description. If credit cards are missing you must contact your bank immediately and have them cancelled. You can use the phone in the Studentlife Office. If the items were stolen, or you suspect they were stolen, you must write all the details down and then go to the nearest police station and make a declaration. If you are travelling you should go to the local police station where the incident occurred. The nearest one to the residence is:
Gendarmerie Place du Bourg-de-Four 3, 1204 Genève Tél. +41 22 427 76 70
Horaires : lundi au vendredi : 10h00 à 17h00 mon-fri

If you need to make a declaration out of hours you must go to the Gendaramie in Rue de Berne 6, Pâquis. Please note it may take a lot longer to see a police officer and file a complaint.
The police there may not speak English, so it is probably better to ask a member of staff to accompany you and help with translating if your French is not strong. It will also help if you type and print a translation into French of what happened and a list if what was taken/lost.
Your possessions may end up in the Geneva lost property office and you should enquire there after a week has passed.
