Ibis Reproductive Health is a non-governmental, non-profit organization headquartered in Cambridge, MA (USA) that aims to improve women’s reproductive autonomy, choices, and health worldwide. We accomplish our mission by conducting original clinical and social science research, leveraging existing research, producing educational resources, and promoting policies and practices that support sexual and reproductive rights and health. We work closely with advocates to conceptualize research questions and to help ensure the results of our research lead to positive change in women’s lives.  We focus on improving access to safe, high-quality, affordable abortion, expanding access to and information about contraception, and strengthening links between HIV prevention, care, and treatment and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care. Ibis is currently looking for a dynamic Project Manager for our Johannesburg office.  S/he will report to the Branch Manager/Senior Associate.  General duties will include:

–          Implementation/coordination of ongoing projects, including ensuring project activities and budgets are on track based on agreed timelines and deadlines;

–          Communicating with internal and external colleagues to ensure smooth project implementation;

–          Qualitative and/or quantitative data management and analysis;

–          Providing basic training on research methods to external NGO partners;

–          Contributing to development of new projects;

–          Writing reports, proposals, and manuscripts;

–          Assisting with project and office logistics, including providing administrative support as needed. 

More specifically, the Project Manager will manage a program of work focusing on teenage pregnancy in the region. This will include developing monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plans/tools and providing M&E support to partners working on this issue and collaborating with local and national government.

Qualifications

  1. Masters or equivalent degree/experience with focus on reproductive health, public health, or similar area.
  2. At least 2 years experience in project management.
  3. Experience coordinating or implementing clinical or social science research projects.
  4. One or more years of experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and analysis techniques, including solid understanding of analytical software packages, such as Atlas-ti, SPSS, or STATA.
  5. Experience/familiarity with budgeting using basic tools such as Excel.
  6. Excellent organizational, writing and presentation skills.
  7. Experience coordinating meetings/events preferred.
  8. Attention to detail.
  9. Ability to make and carry out decisions independently. 
  10. Commitment to team building, staff development, and collaboration, particularly cross-culturally.
  11. Willingness to travel.
  12. Open minded and a sense of humor.
  13. Proficiency in spoken/written French or Portuguese a plus.

 

Salary: Depends on experience/qualifications. Generous benefits package.

Dates and term of assignment: Term begins as soon as possible. Contract for one year, renewable depending on funding.
