Congratulations to our recent IH graduate Danit Kaya, for being chosen for the ASPH/CDC Allan Rosenfield Global Health Fellowship Program!
Danit Kaya, SPH'12 graduated as an IH Concentrator this past May and has been chosen as an ASPH/CDC Allan Rosenfield Global Health Fellow.
"In recognition of a career dedicated to improving the health of the world’s most vulnerable populations, ASPH, with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), established a fellowship in honor of Dr. Allan Rosenfield, former Dean of the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. The Allan Rosenfield Global Health Fellowship Program provides international training opportunities for recent graduates of ASPH member accredited schools of public health (MPH and Doctoral level."
This particular fellowship has been running as a cooperative agreement between CDC and ASPH for the past 9 years. It is a 12-24 month posting with CDC overseas, in which fellows apply and expand the global health principles learned during graduate study within a specific in-country context.
Ms. Kaya will be working in the CDC office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam as a Global Health Program Management Fellow, focusing on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in most at-risk populations. In Vietnam, HIV/AIDS is a highly concentrated epidemic which focuses on sex workers, MSM and injection-drug users, so the office focuses heavily on work within these groups.
