Mali Health internship available from their US base in Boston
Mali Health is seeking an intern to support our development, communications and programmatic efforts from our US base in Boston. Interns will provide administrative and technical support to various areas of the organization under the supervision of the Executive Director and Operations Manager. Candidates should have the capacities to take on multiple projects and work independently. Flexibility, enthusiasm, motivation and a sense of humor are nonnegotiable. The position is ideal for undergraduate or graduate students interested in international development, global health, nonprofit administration and mission-driven management.
The position is unpaid but offers significant organizational responsibility. Course credit is possible (please indicate as such in application). The role provides valuable exposure and training in myriad aspects of non-profit management and administration, in addition to the fields of global health and international development. Interns commit to a minimum 15 hours per week. Preference given to those with the ability to commit longer than 4 months.
Responsibilities:
· Assist the Operations Manager and Executive Director with daily development and programmatic responsibilities
· Research prospective foundations and donors
· Assist in preparing and writing grants, letters of inquiry, proposals, etc.
· Assist in donor support, including acknowledgements, newsletters, and event planning
· Support outreach through social media mechanisms and website maintenance
· Assist with other research and writing responsibilities as necessary
· Support Mali Health’s initiatives through programmatic research, literature reviews, updating operational plans, partnership development and direct communications, as needed.
Qualifications:
· Strong writing skills
· Experience in any of the following skill areas preferred: grant writing, database management, website development, project management, graphic design
· Solid understanding of Mali Health and our approach to health and development
· Ability to self-direct, organize, prioritize, and multitask
· Strong research skills
· High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· High levels of professionalism and interpersonal skills
· French language skills preferred
· Ability to work from our base in Cambridge at least one day per week
· Experience with Salesforce and Constant Contact preferred
