Announcement from Emily Jump: Last day at DIH this Friday, August 30

August 27th, 2013 in Fellowships

Dear DIH Community,

As many of you may already know, this Friday (Aug. 30) will be my last day as Academic Coordinator for the Department of International Health.  I will be transitioning to the role of a fulltime MPH student at BUSPH this fall in environmental health.  I am excited for this new  opportunity, but sad to leave at the same time.

My favorite part of this job has been getting to know so many of you over the last three years.  Thanks to each of you for your kind words, patience, trust, and friendship as you journey through your education.  I am honored to officially join the incoming class of 2013 as a fellow student this fall.

Stacy Song will be starting as the new Academic Coordinator on September 5.  Once she is set up with BU contact information, we will be sure to let you know how to get in touch with her.  In the interim, please send questions to Joe Anzalone at josanz@bu.edu.

All my best and many thanks,

Emily Jump

SPH Final Exam Policy 101

December 7th, 2012 in Fellowships

Did you know.....?
Students who have three exams scheduled on any one exam day may have that exam which falls in between the other two rescheduled to another exam day. This arrangement for rescheduling should be coordinated between the instructor and the student. Also, just an FYI to students with class on mondays, your final will NOT take place on Christmas Eve! Check your syllabus for details. Feel free to contact the Registrar (617-638-4963) or Director of Student Services (617-638-5059) if you have any questions about this policy.

Tip of the Week: Did you know?

November 30th, 2012 in Tips!

Many courses from other Boston University colleges, such as the School of Management and the School of Communications, have courses that are pre-approved to count for SPH credit! A list of non-BUSPH courses which count for MPH elective credit can be found here.

CWS Fellowship Opportunity – apps due Dec. 12

December 9th, 2011 in Fellowships

The CWS Fellowship Program is a three-week water education and leadership training experience in Northern Region Ghana. The purpose of the program is to teach individuals about the global water crisis, and inspire them to become leaders in the field of international development.

Fellows are grouped in teams of four and paired with a rural community in Northern Region Ghana. On the ground, teams are first trained in water quality testing, and the CWS water treatment methods. They then spend two and half weeks in the field implementing and monitoring a CWS water business in their village. By the end of the 3 week program, each team will have provided a permanent source of safe drinking water for an entire community (approx. 500-1,000 people)!

This spring we are offering, for the first time, a Fellowship Program for young professionals and December graduates looking to gain fieldwork experience in developing countries. This 3-week fellowship session which will take place from April 2nd to April 23rd. Applications are due December 12th at 5pm EST.

Donate your winter coats to the SPH coat closet

December 7th, 2011 in Fellowships

This year, BUSPH is collecting warm winter coats, hats, and gloves. If you have any items you would like to contribute, you can bring them to the bin in the front hallway of Talbot, or bring them to Emily Jump's cubicle (CT371, next to the IH front desk).

If you are a student new to Boston's winters and you are in need of a coat or other warm clothing, you are welcome to take one from the bin for yourself, or contact Chris Paal in the Registrar's office for more information.
