Senior Research Associate position in Zambia

Global Health Corps and ZCARHD will be hiring a Senior Research Associate who will provide technical support to the Research Unit of the Ministry of Health headquarters in Zambia.  Please follow this website to learn more about the application process and the position requirements.

After the application deadline, February 17th, the selection process will proceed in 3 stages:

  • Application Review, Feb 17 - March 6 [GHC]: Global Health Corps will review applications and identify 10-12 semi-finalists for each position. Candidates are judged based on a scoring rubric that covers relevant skills and experience, leadership potential, and strength of character.
  • Semi-Finalist Interviews, March 12-30 [GHC]: Semi-finalists are interviewed by GHC (staff, fellows, and alumni). The top 3-4 candidates from these interviews are identified as finalists.
  • Finalist Interviews, April 2-13 [Your Organization]: Partner organizations will receive contact information and application materials for the 3-4 finalists from the American pool of candidates and 3-4 finalists from the Malawian pool. Your team will have until April 13 to interview the candidates, and return your ranking of preferences for both positions.

The Career P.R.E.P. Program is offered through the BUSPH Career Office to students with less than 3 years of job search experience as well as more experienced students interested in refreshing their skills.

This program is led by two amazing staff: Maria McCarthy, the Director of Career Services and Lisa Toby, the Assistant Dean of Career Services.

All sessions will be held from 5-5:50 in L110 unless otherwise noted. There are also drop-in sessions for students who cannot commit to the full schedule.

DESCRIPTION:
HIV/AIDS Services Division, Client Services / Quality Management
In addition to all duties in Program Coordinator I, Program Coordinator II will perform these duties: Under supervision of the Director, will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a quality management system for funded services.
Assists direct service medical providers funded through the Ryan White program to assure that funded services adhere to established HIV clinical practice standards and Public Health Services (PHS) guidelines; implements strategies for
improvements to quality medical care including vital health related supportive services to achieve appropriate access and adherence with HIV medical care; utilizes available demographic, clinical and health care utilization information to monitor the spectrum of HIV related illnesses and trends in the local epidemic.
Plans and develops monitoring and reporting systems for program performance for funded programs.
Develops procedures for continuous quality assurance monitoring activities including program site visits.
Provides technical assistance to funded community based organizations in the implementation of quality assurance
mechanisms.
Prepares quarterly program reports and annual reports for HRSA & program summaries for use during the RFP process on program performance and as needed, and other written assignments as necessary.
Performs other duties as required.
May be required to perform any and all duties and responsibilities of a Program Coordinator II, as set forth in the BPHC
Program Coordinator Series. This job description is based on the Program Coordinator Series.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS and 2 years of equivalent experience in public health program coordination, management and/or community
organizing OR Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Policy Administration, or a related discipline, such as sociology, organizational psychology, public health nursing, or health communications OR 5 years equivalent experience in public health program coordination, management and/or community organizing may be substituted for undergraduate degree.
Demonstrated experience coordinating and implementing complex projects.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with providers serving a variety of populations, including gay men, communities of
color, substance abuse populations, women and youth.
Demonstrated ability to establish effective communications and working relationships with community providers.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability of developing time lines and meeting deadlines.
Demonstrated cultural competence with the diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic groups.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to write clear, concise reports, and to follow and give written and oral instructions in a precise, understandable
manner.
Significant experience working with multiple disciplines & a variety of service providers.
Demonstrated knowledge & experience with WordPerfect/MS Word, Lotus/Excel and Windows (and other related software)
Prior experience in data base management and data analysis preferred.
Knowledge of public health, and epidemiological, outreach and educational models related to HIV and AIDS.
Bilingual and/or bicultural preferred.
Boston residency required, or willingness to relocate.
