Spanish-Speaking Motivational Interviewer – Part-Time (ASAP)

Christina Lee, Research Faculty at Northeastern Institute on Urban Health Research with Hortensia Amaro would like to hire a spanish-speaking clinician to work with her on a project to deliver motivational interviewing in a primary care setting. This project is part of an application for a NIH funded grant application to reduce hazardous drinking among Latinos. It is based on a prior funded NIH grant.
Criteria: 1. Spanish-speaking 2. Clinical experience preferred 3. exposure to, or prior training in, MI preferred
Job responsibilities: this is a part time job. Christina Lee would provide extra training in MI as needed and in the MITI, a coding system to monitor treatment fidelity. You will be asked to listen to tapes in Spanish, and to code them using a MITI rating scale.
Reimbursement: You would be paid for your time. This is an excellent job for someone who wants to learn more about MI or who is in graduate school and seeks a part time job to increase their income while getting supervision and MI training. It is very flexible hours–you can listen to tapes anytime, and weekly meetings with me to discuss how the clinical work is going.

Job Description
Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Manager
Supervisor: Managing Director, Africa
Direct Reports: M&E Intern
Employment Status: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Employment Location: Cape Town, South Africa with some travel
Contract Period: 1-2 years

Job Overview:
The M&E Coordinator will support GRS’s Global M&E activities to ensure high quality programming, support the development and design of programs, curricula, monitoring tools, and evaluations, develop GRS as a leading organization in youth HIV prevention and strategically guide the organization to achieve its goal of reducing HIV incidence among young people worldwide. The M&E Coordinator will supporting GRS Affiliate programs (SA, Zim & Zam) and Global Technical Assistance programs (Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, and others). The M&E Manager will report to the Managing Director of Africa and be based in Cape Town.
Specific Tasks:
Development of Monitoring Tools and Systems
- Develop strategic frameworks (e.g. logic models, conceptual frameworks, etc) for proposals, workplans, and Technical Assistance projects
- Develop project specific M&E tools and processes to track outputs and outcomes
- Periodically review M&E tools (pre and post challenges, attendance forms etc) to ensure GRS is employing cutting edge and effective processes
M&E Coordination
- Coordinate data collection from all Global projects and oversee input into Salesforce database
- Extract information from database for reports and feedback
- Conduct routine data quality assessments on Global programs and build data management capacity of GRS and partner staff
- Conduct project data audits periodically
Salesforce Database
- Act as GRS’s internal Salesforce database expert, training staff as necessary on database capabilities and usage
- Understand basic back end functionalities to modify the system as necessary
- Provide Technical Assistance to Affiliates and Implementing Partners on M&E system design, set up and execution, specifically using the Salesforce Scoreboard system
Research
- Liaise with research advisors in the fields of public health, education, and sport-for- development and ensure their input is incorporated into GRS’ programs
- Conduct literature reviews to inform grant writing, program design, curriculum development, and evaluations
- Ensure GRS staff and volunteers are sufficiently informed about the HIV epidemic
- Obtain feedback on programs from beneficiaries and stakeholders through focus groups, site visits, and M&E data
- Lead or assist on other research and evaluation activities regionally
Qualifications and Person Specification:
- Masters Degree (MPH, Education or related field) preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the latest research in the field of HIV prevention
- Passion for and commitment to Grassroot Soccer’s mission
- 2-3 years experience in research, evaluation, curriculum development, program design, program management, advocacy, and/or health communications
- At least 1 year of field experience working in health, education, or research, preferably in Africa
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative program evaluation methods
- Ability to work with drive and enthusiasm and to function in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship building skills, especially in a cross-cultural environment, and ability to analyze and solve problems, persuade, network and negotiate
- The ability to identify essential information
- Computer proficiency in Salesforce database, Microsoft Office Suite required (Especially Excel)
- Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to implement procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members
- Proven ability to solve problems independently without direct supervision

GBV Program Officer, American Refugee Committee
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The GBV Program Officer would supervise a team of GBV project staff to effectively implement GBV prevention and response activities targeted returnees from the North recently arrived in Upper Nile State.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Malakal Field Coordinator with technical support from GBV Program Coordinator
STATUS: Full Time (April – December 2011, with possible extension)
Technical Advisor II: Population, Health and Environment Advisor (GHFP-11-213), Global Health Fellows Program
he Population, Health and Environment (PHE) Advisor will work with GRP’s partners, stakeholders and staff to achieve this integrated approach to community and ecosystem health. This approach will target the population in the buffer zone communities, working primarily through their community leadership councils. Also involved will be local health volunteers, GRP staff, the Provincial Directorate of Health, the District Health Offices, Mount Sinai Hospital’s Global Health Center, Population Services International, the Peace Corps, USAID, and other health resource partners.
The PHE Advisor will work under the health programs of the Community Relations Department of Gorongosa National Park, receiving day-to-day guidance from the EcoHealth Project Manager. The PHE Advisor will periodically meet with technical staff on the health and environment teams at USAID/Mozambique. S/he will:
1. Provide technical assistance in the integration of family planning information and service delivery into conservation efforts
2. Provide technical assistance in the implementation of the family planning strategies
3. Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation plan which measures the integration of PHE interventions implemented by GRP
4. Build the capacity of staff at Gorongosa National Park to take over the implementation of family planning and health activities when the Fellowship ends
Location: Vila Gorongosa, Mozambique
Assignment: Two year fellowship
