Laura is an Associate Professor in Family Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. She joined the Family Medicine Global Health Collaborative in 2008, and in 2013 was appointed its Deputy Director. She teaches faculty development workshops in medical education and Family Medicine in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar, and has lectured widely throughout the world on medical educational and primary care.
Laura directs our current Program for Primary Care Strengthening in Cambodia, a program initiated in 2012. In this capacity, she works closely with the Cambodia University of Health Sciences Faculty of Medicine designing, implementing, and evaluating the first competency-based curriculum at the school. Laura coaches UHS faculty in case-based teaching, small group learning, primary care, best practices in precepting, feedback and student assessment. Under her direction, the program provides scholarship for cohorts of faculty and students to enroll in online courses in competency-based curriculum and Masters’ in Health Professions programs. With program support, the UHS conducted an alumni survey, analyzed and published results. Dr. Goldman worked with USAID and the University of Washington on the EQHA project. She is currently a consultant to the World Bank in health professional preservice education.
Laura graduated from Rutgers Medical School, and Brown University’s Program in Family Medicine. She is core faculty in the Boston University Family Medicine Medical Student Education and Residency Programs, and served as assistant residency director. She trained as a Faculty Scholar in the Boston University Center of Excellence in Geriatrics and the Stanford Faculty Development Center. Dr. Goldman has extensive experience teaching, designing curriculum, evaluation, and medical student assessment. She directs the geriatrics program and directed the Department’s nursing home practice. She also served as the South Boston Community Health Center Program Director. She practices full spectrum Family Medicine at SBCHC and Boston Medical Center.
