Worldwide Travel Alert
Global Programs would like to inform BU travelers about the State Department Worldwide Travel Alert issued August 2, 2013. This alert and the temporary closure of several U.S. embassies and consulates are good reminders of the need for heightened vigilance and situational awareness while traveling.
The alert does not, however, warn against international travel or suggest any restrictions on travel beyond those specified in existing U.S. State Department Travel Warnings, including the warning issued on August 5 for Yemen.
Travelers should pay careful attention to any State Department messages. U.S. citizens can receive the latest U.S. State Department travel updates and information by enrolling in the U.S. State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. Citizens of other countries should check with their consulate or embassy to see if a similar service is available.
