Veteran, Emmy-award winning news anchor and BU journalism professor R.D. Sahl will conduct live, virtual interviews with BU students currently living around the world about the ways in which their host country is responding to the result of the U.S. presidential election. Students in Australia, France, Ireland, England, and China will share anecdotes, stories, and quotes, both serious and lighthearted about the ways in which local businesses, government, non-profit, and cultural organizations are responding. Questions from the audience will be encouraged.

RD Sahl is an Associate Professor of the Practice at Boston University’s College of Communication. He spent more than 40 years as a broadcast journalist. Sahl has covered national political conventions, presidential debates, and election nights going back to 1968. His foreign assignments have taken him to the Soviet Union, Poland, Germany, France, Italy, The Holy See, Japan, Canada and Haiti. Sahl is a native of Boulder, Colorado. He holds degrees from the University of Colorado and The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy
Kaitlin Geraghty: Sydney, Australia
Kaitlin Geraghty is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences studying political science with a minor in the School of Education studying Special Education, she is also on the pre-law track! Kaitlin is from Oceanside, New York and she is currently studying abroad in Sydney, Australia participating in the Sydney Internship Program. She is interning for the President of the International Commission of Jurists where she is in charge of a number of tasks but her main focus is legislative review! She has also studied abroad previously in the Dublin Internship program through BU Study Abroad. At BU, she is a part of CAS Student Government, Study Abroad Ambassadors, the BU College Democrats, Admissions, Alpha Phi Omega, and a number of other activities.
Edna Pennylegion-Hurley: Dublin, Ireland
Edna Pennylegion-Hurley is currently studying and interning abroad in Dublin Ireland. She previously studied abroad at Sciences Po in Paris, France. She is an International Relations major and Psychology minor.
Sophie Isakowitz: London, England
Sophie Isakowitz is a senior at UCLA majoring in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations and a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. Growing up in Virginia, just a quick drive into DC, Sophie’s interest in politics and international relations was fostered at a young age. Currently, she is studying abroad in London through the Boston University London Internship Program, where she is working in the British Parliament House of Commons for Mary Creagh MP. This past summer, Sophie interned at the Hillary Clinton campaign headquarters, Hillary for America, in Brooklyn, NY. Previously, Sophie has interned for the Clinton Foundation, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the UCLA Burkle Center for International Relations and Organizing for America, President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. At UCLA she is the head of the research team for Professor Steven Spiegel, the Director of the UCLA Center for Middle East Development. In her free time, she loves exploring Southern California, learning about space exploration and playing her guitar.
Tova Levin: Shanghai, China
Tova Levin is currently studying in Shanghai and is on track to graduate in 2018 with a B.A. in International Relations, focusing on Asia and development, and in Environmental Analysis and Policy, in addition to minors in Asian Studies and Chinese. On campus, Tova is involved with the Global Environmental Brigades, International Business Club, the International Affairs Association, the Earth and Environment Review, and Taekwondo. She hopes to work in global sustainable development policy in the future
Gabriel Noel: Paris, France
Gabriel Noel is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Political Science. He is interested in the intersection of politics and education, and has interned at the New York City Department of Education. He is originally from New York City.
