This autumn we are excited to be celebrating Boston University’s 12th Annual International Education Week, running November 6th – 10th. We hope to see you at the many events taking place across the University as a part of the annual joint initiative of the US Departments of State and Education to foster the benefits of international exchange and education, and when our community takes a moment to highlight and share the various ways in which BU engages globally.
In this issue, we share a few stories spotlighting a sample of our students’ successes and experiences. From BU Study Abroad alumni running Australia’s leading social media agency, to a recent graduate helping immigrant and refugee entrepreneurs, to students studying classical and graffiti art in Madrid, there are myriad ways BU students and alumni make a global impact and expand their world view.
We are delighted to see continued interest by students in our Study Abroad programs post-pandemic and a strong desire by many in our community to actively engage throughout the world. In Boston, BU is again host to another record number of international students for the University, and our International Peer Mentor Program offered to help first year undergraduate international students transition successfully to BU is off to another great start.
Finally, if your work or academic pursuits will be taking you abroad, please read our new section on travel tips for helpful safety information provided by our partner International SOS. We hope you enjoy this issue of Global Matters.
Sincerely, Willis G. Wang Associate Provost for Global Programs
