Emma Zheng
Assistant Director for Graduate Training and Programming
Emma Zheng returned to the Office of the Provost in March 2022 to serve as the inaugural Assistant Director for Graduate Training and Programming. In this role, Emma has oversight of training and fellowship opportunities, such as responsible conduct of research and PhD internships. She also works closely to advance BU’s graduate education diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
From 2018 to 2021 Emma served as an administrative coordinator for academic affairs in the Office of the Provost. In that role, she provided logistical and administrative support for academic assessment, the university-wide teaching awards, and various committees such as the Assessment Working Groups, Provost’s Faculty Teaching Awards Committee, and the Graduate Admissions Working Group (GAWG). She also worked closely with schools and colleges to provide support on completing and submitting their academic program annual reports that are due each fall semester.
Prior to returning to the Office of the Provost, Emma was an Undergraduate Academic Advisor in the Department of Political Science at BU. There, she provided academic advising and support to approximately 600 Political Science majors and minors, as well as minors in the Urban Studies and Public Policy Analysis programs.
Before Emma came to BU, she worked in the legal industry for two years as a Paralegal specializing in construction, healthcare, and corporate litigation. Originally a Boston native, Emma received her BA in Geoscience from Hamilton College in 2016 in upstate New York and her EdM in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from BU’s Wheelock College of Education and Human Development in 2021.
