Mr. Bumjeon (John) Kim serves as Deputy Director of the Revenue Collecting Division within the District Tax Office at the Korean National Tax Service (NTS). He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan and is also a qualified Tax Investigator in the Korean NTS. He previously worked at the International Taxation Bureau at NTS headquarters, where he played a key role in several Transfer Pricing Mutual Agreement Procedure (MAP) cases as a competent authority. Additionally, he contributed to several OECD meetings that focused on international taxation issues, including taxation in the digital economy, tax treaties between countries, and tax crime. During his Humphrey Fellowship year, Bumjeon plans to research data-driven tax administration in order to explore ways to integrate inter-governmental institution databases into Korea’s tax database. His research aims to discover more efficient and innovative methods of tax administration.
