ALFRED JUSU

Sierra Leone

Field of Study: Finance & Banking

Mr. Alfred Jusu is a financier with passion for providing access to finance to smallholder farmers and other vulnerable rural populations that are distrusted, and therefore excluded, from the formal financial sector.

He has 15 years’ experience. Between 2012 and 2019, he was the Head of Agricultural Finance at Apex Bank (SL) Ltd., an IFAD funded rural finance network that has the largest footprint in Sierra Leone. Since February 2019, he has been the executive director of Munafa Social Microfinance, a pro-poor microfinance institution, promoted by the French NGO, Entrepreneurs du Monde, that provides access to finance and socio-economic education for vulnerable populations in Sierra Leone, achieved by removing several barriers: collateral, guarantor or guarantee.

During his Humphrey year, he intends to do a comparative analysis of the agricultural finance systems of the United States and Sierra Leone, and leverage US networks to invest in agriculture in his country. He enjoys travelling, spending time with his family, reading the bible, and watching television soccer.
