Mr. Govinda Bahadur Raut is the Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Muktinath Bikas Bank Limited, a leading “B” category financial institution in Nepal. He leads a team of Inclusive Banking which is a unique setup in the commercial banking sector of Nepal. The Inclusive Banking vertical of the bank serves Micro and Small Entrepreneurs (MSEs) which holds nearly one third portfolio of the bank.

Raut started his professional journey as a field-level employee of a microfinance institution in late 1994 in Nepal. During his professional career path, the majority of his time was dedicated serving to low-income people. His current role is to assure smooth operation and quality service delivery to the targeted people of Inclusive Banking beneficiaries. Moreover, he engages in policy formulation, team capacity development, and monitoring of MSE related portfolio of the bank.

During his study at Boston University, he plans to enrich his academic, professional, and leadership skills. Additionally, he expects to network with experts from the same field and professional affiliation with an institution that gives him a platform to exchange practical knowledge and experiences.

From the fellowship, he intends to advance himself in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Financing which includes but is not limited to risk management, credit scoring, and best use of fintech. After returning back to his country, he wants to focus on better serving youths, returnee migrants, women, and small-holder farmers. Furthermore, his efforts contribute to fulfilling the financial gap of MSMEs which increases financial inclusion in Nepal.

Mr. Raut has his MBA and Master’s in Rural Development from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. He has also completed “Certified Expert in Climate Adaptation Finance” from Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Frankfurt, Germany.
