Kwang-Sung is a post-doctorate fellow with Francesco Orabona at Boston University. In Fall 2019, he joined the Computer Science Department at the University of Arizona as an assistant professor.
He was previously a post-doctorate fellow with Robert Nowak, Rebecca Willett, and Stephen Wright at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Wisconsin Institute for Discovery under optimization theme. He received his PhD in 2015 at University of Wisconsin-Madison, advised by Xiaojin (Jerry) Zhu. He also obtained a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from School of Computing, Soongsil University, South Korea.
His research focuses on sequential decision-making in feedback loops (i.e., the multi-armed bandit problem). He also works on online optimization and machine learning applied to psychology.
