Muhammad Zaman is a professor of biomedical engineering in the School of Engineering and he received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in Chemistry. His research interests include systems biology of cancer, cell adhesion and migration in 3D environments, cellular mechanics, and applications of BME in the developing world. His lab, the Zaman Lab, has two main thrusts of research, one is understanding and decoupling the integrated chemical, biological and mechanical basis of tumor invasion that precedes metastasis and the other one is developing computational and experimental tools to improve the quality of life, education and the practice of medicine in the developing world.
