Prof Emeritus James McCann presentations and seminars

Professor Emeritus James McCann will present a lightning round paper “Reflections on Water, Watersheds and Historical Identities: A Tale of Two Rivers” to the meeting Research on Tap organized by the BU Associate Provost for Research on March 22.  Prof. McCann’s paper is a prelude to a plenary panel for the 2024 Third Annual World Congress on Environmental History to be held in Onlu, Finland.  Prof. McCann serves on the organizing committee for that meeting. And will co-chair this plenary session with Admire Mseba of University of Southern Californi

On April 27 Prof. McCann will lead a seminar at the American University In Rome on “Call It Polenta” a historical view of Italy’s Iconic staple.  1619- 2023.

In June Prof. McCann has been invited to Oxford University (St. Antony’s College) to present a paper “Nature and the Supernatural: Meanings of Water and the Humanities in Ethiopia’s Upper Nile” to the seminar on Northeast Africa

Prof. McCann will also address a meeting of the Anglo-Ethiopian Society in London on the topic “The Sacred and Profane in Identities of Ecology in the Abbay/Upper Nile of Ethiopia”
