New MSR Student Application Walkthrough

The following images provide a preview of the MSR Housing Application for new eligible medical students. This application must be completed in order to be assigned to a space in the Medical Student Residence. All steps are shown to provide students with information that might be necessary when completing the application. Valuable information is provided at each step.

Graduate Housing Portal & MSR Application

Access the Graduate Housing Portal by clicking here. Enter your BU login name and your Kerberos password. Once logged in, navigate to the MSR Application.

Term Selector

Here, you will be able to select the term for which you are completing the application. Select “Apply” to start your application.

Welcome Page

You will be brought to the welcome page, where the steps for completing the application are outlined. Once you have read it over, click “Save & Continue”.

Housing Guarantee Payment Information

Here, the details for how to pay the $500 Housing Guarantee Payment are outlined. Click “Save & Continue” after reading.

Payment Overview

This is where the Housing Guarantee Payment of $500 first appears. It will prompt you to “pay now” and bring you to the next step in paying.

Make Payment

Fill in the payment amount of $500. Click on “Next – Payment Method”

Payment Method

Here, you will select a payment method for your deposit. There are two options to pay: credit/debit or eCheck.

Medical Preferences

If there are any medical preferences that should be taken into consideration when making assignments, please select “Yes”. If you select “Yes,” another page will become available where you can provide more information.

Medical Information

If you have a medical condition, please provide a brief description and reason as to why you need a specific room type or placement. We will do our best to accommodate it.

Residence License Agreement

Thoroughly read the terms of the Graduate Residence License Agreement linked on this page and provide your electronic signature below if you comply.

Personal Insurance Information

On this page, you are asked to acknowledge that you are encouraged to obtain/carry adequate personal property insurance, as the University’s insurance program is limited to coverage of University-owned property.

Roommate Profile Page

On this page, you will fill out your roommate profile to help with the matching process.

Roommates

Now, you will select your roommate. If you do not have a specific person you want to request as a roommate, simply skip this page and click “Save & Continue”. If you wish to search for someone, go to “Search for Roommates by Details,” where you will be prompted to enter their BU ID number. To search for roommates who match your profile, click “Search for Roommates by Profiles”.

Roommate Search by Details

On this page, you will search for potential roommates by their BU ID number. There is a max of 3 requests and each roommate must have started their own MSR application to be searchable. If you don’t have any specific roommates in mind, click “Search for Roommates by Profiles”.

Roommate Search by Profiles

This page gives you the option to match with a roommate based on a profile you create. This is an option for applicants who don’t have a specific roommate they want to match with. Fill out the profile based on your preferences and click “Search”. This will show you a list of potential roommates who match your selections.

What’s Next

The application is now completed, and the next step will be to wait for assignments to released. Pay attention to the deadline to cancel your application, should you choose to do so.
