Military-related Leaves
BU Paid Family and Medical Leave also provides benefits for certain military-related leaves.
- Military exigency applies if you need time away to attend to family matters when your spouse, child or parent is deployed overseas through the military. In this case, you are eligible for up to two weeks of military exigency leave at 100% of total compensation, plus an additional ten weeks subject to the State maximum benefit of $1,170.64 per week in 2025.
- You can take up to 26 weeks of family leave per year to care for a family member who is a current member of the Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves, who is:
- Undergoing medical treatment for a serious health condition that was received or aggravated while they were deployed in a foreign country;
- Or who is on the temporary disability retired list for a serious injury or illness that happened or was aggravated by service while deployed in a foreign country.
- You are eligible for up to two weeks of this leave at 100% of total compensation, plus an additional 24 weeks subject to the State maximum benefit of $1,170.64 per week in 2025.
