Important Changes to Boston University Leaves Administration

Effective January 1, 2025, BU’s Paid Family and Medical Leave benefit is administered by Sedgwick, an industry-leading provider of integrated benefits solutions. 

Sedgwick Enhancements

Sedgwick offers the following enhancements for supervisors, faculty, and staff:

  • A customized mySedgwick portal for employees, allowing them to submit a claim electronically, check the status of their application, and chat with their claim examiner online
  • Supervisors can check the status of their employees’ leave via mySedgwick
  • Department leaders will receive reports on the status of all employees on a leave
  • Employees can call Sedgwick to report a claim over the phone using interactive voice response technology
  • Employees can submit leave applications up to 60 days in advance of an anticipated leave
