Your Benefits for Various Types of Leaves
- If you need to take leave for your own serious health condition or injury, you can receive up to 20 weeks of paid leave in a 12-month period.
- If you need to take a leave for a family member’s medical needs, or for parental leave to bond with a newly-arrived child, you can receive up to 12 weeks of paid leave.
- If you need to care for family matters if your spouse, child or parent is deployed overseas, you can take up to 12 weeks of paid military exigency leave.
- And, if a family member is undergoing treatment for, or disabled from, a condition that occurred or was aggravated when deployed overseas, you can take up to 26 weeks of paid leave.
It’s important to note the maximum paid time off is 26 weeks within a 12-month period for any combination of personal medical and family leaves.
For all types of leave, the benefit you are paid is based on your own average weekly wage when you apply for leave, and the average weekly wage for workers throughout Massachusetts.
