Vacation Time Maximum Accrual
Staff members accrue earned vacation time on a monthly basis and only forfeit time above the maximum at the end of the calendar year.
This policy allows you to use “excess vacation time” before reducing accrued vacation time below the maximum of two years of your annual vacation benefit.
Please note: Unused accrued vacation time in excess of the allowable maximum will not be paid out to employees terminating employment with the University, as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Example
A staff member eligible to accrue 25 vacation days per year has 50 accrued vacation days and takes no time off except for 10 days in December. In this scenario, the staff member would use 10 of 25 excess days, forfeit 15 days on December 31, and have 50 days in their vacation bank at the end of each month of the year.
