WELCOME, CLASS OF 2025! #BU2025
Welcome to Boston University! We hope this message finds you and your family well as you prepare to join us this fall.
As you begin planning for your time at BU, please spend a few minutes exploring the BU Hub, our innovative university-wide general education program. The Hub is designed to ensure that every BU undergraduate develops the breadth of knowledge and essential skills needed to be an engaged citizen and to thrive in the future. Through the Hub, you can choose courses that interest you from among hundreds of offerings, take courses in any of the undergraduate schools and colleges, connect with students from across the University, and expand your sense of community at BU.
We encourage you to learn more about how the Hub works and to explore some of the many Hub courses available to you. In addition, we hope you will participate in innovative Hub offerings such as the Cross-College Challenge (XCC) and Hub cocurriculars. Register for Spring 2021 Hub Cocurricular Information Sessions
Did you know that you can fulfill one of your BU Hub requirements through a Hub cocurricular experience? Hub cocurriculars are 0-credit, ungraded experiences that combine hands-on activities, discussion, and reflection, and allow you to explore your interests while earning 1 Hub unit. This spring, 6 Hub cocurricular information sessions have been scheduled at the following times:

Tuesday, March 30, 2021, 8:30-9 am EST
Wednesday, April 7, 2021, 6-6:30 pm EST

Thursday, April 22, 2021, 1-1:30 pm EST

Apply to BU Global House for AY 2021-22
Did you know that BU Global House is a great place for undergraduate students to further refine language skills, meet students from many different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and take charge of their own cultural education through weekly meetings, cultural events, and communal living? Eligible students must be rising sophomores or above and have completed the second semester of language study (or equivalent proficiency). Advanced and native speakers are also strongly encouraged to apply!
Global House offer language clusters for Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. The Global House living-learning community is located on the 4th floor of 610 Beacon St. (Myles Standish Hall). Global House welcomes students from all majors and all colleges within BU.
Global House also offers a HUB cocurricular experience. Students who reside in Global House for two semesters and successfully complete the Global House cocurricular program will earn 1 Hub unit in either Global Citizenship and Intercultural Literacy OR in The Individual in Community. Students may only earn one 1 Hub unit through Global House.

Community Participation in the Hostile Terrain 94 Art Installation: Tag Filling
BU community members can now participate in the ongoing construction of the Hostile Terrain 94 art installation, which is located on the 2nd floor landing of the George Sherman Union (GSU), 775 Commonwealth Ave., until May 21. Through the installation, the human toll of the U.S. “Prevention Through Deterrence” policy is memorialized with the inclusion of over 3,200 toe-tags listing the names and other identifying information of the corpses of migrants found in the Sonoran Desert at the Arizona/Mexico border.
Students and BU community members can participate in assembling the installation by completing these tags, which are then placed on an enlarged wall map of the desert showing the exact locations where the remains were found. Participants must sign up for a time slot and be able to show their symptom status and follow safety protocols. The BU Arts Initiative will provide gloves and sanitizer. Please provide your own mask--thank you.
The Hostile Terrain 94 exhibition was brought to Boston University by the College of Arts & Sciences and the BU Arts Initiative, with support from Latin American Studies, the College of General Studies, BU History Department, BU Archaeology Department, and the BU Hub.
WARNING: The exhibition contains material that may be disturbing to some audiences, including: description of presumed causes of death and physical state of human remains written on the tags of the exhibit; images of personal items left behind by migrants while crossing the Sonoran desert at the Arizona/Mexico Border.

Did you know that new Hub cocurriculars continue to be developed and added to the list of available experiences?
In this innovative part of the BU Hub, students have the option to take part in cocurricular activities while fulfilling a Hub requirement. Hub cocurriculars are 0-credit, ungraded experiences that occur outside of the classroom and combine activities, discussion, and reflection. Cocurricular experiences focus on particular areas of the Hub, including The Individual in Community, Global Citizenship and Intercultural Literacy, Teamwork/Collaboration, and Creativity/Innovation.

Take an Online Hub Course This Summer
Explore a subject, complete a requirement, or earn BU Hub units online this summer through BU Summer Term! Six online Hub courses are now open for registration for Summer 2020:
- CAS EC 101: Introductory Microeconomic Analysis
- CAS MA 113: Elementary Statistics
- CAS MA 121: Calculus for the Life and Social Sciences I
- CAS PH 100: Introduction to Philosophy
- CAS PS 101: General Psychology
- CAS SO 100: Principles in Sociology
