Digital Creators Awards in the Humanities celebrate work at the intersection of humanistic inquiry and emerging technologies. Undergraduates currently enrolled at BU are eligible to submit digital projects with strong humanistic content in one of the following four categories: web design, audio, visual, or game/app design. The awardee in each category will be celebrated at the 2025 BUCH Student Awards Ceremony and will receive a monetary prize.
While students in any major are welcome to apply, all projects must demonstrate clear humanistic content. Please see our “Defining the Humanities” section below for more infomation.
Project and Applicant Eligibility
Undergraduates currently enrolled at BU in any major are eligible to submit digital projects with strong humanistic content in one of the following four categories:
- Web design
- Audio
- Visual
- Game/App design
Applicants are limited to two submissions. If you are unsure as to which category best describes your project, please email the Center at buch@bu.edu using the subject line “Digital Creator Category Inquiry.”
All submissions should be submitted via link and hosted on an independent platform (i.e., Youtube, website, online portfolio). Please select a 15-minute highlight if your project runs longer than 15 minutes.
Defining the Humanities
The Center defines the humanities both as designated departments and as an expansive and flexible mode of inquiry. Humanities disciplines and methods focus on human experiences through primarily critical, interpretive, or speculative lenses, as distinguished from the empirical and quantitative approaches of the natural and social sciences. Please visit this page for a list of CAS departments and programs that fall squarely within the humanities or that offer some courses with strong humanistic content. If you are unsure whether your project demonstrates strong humanistic content, please email the Center at buch@bu.edu using the subject line “Digital Creator Category Inquiry.”
