Master Lecturer, College of Arts & Sciences Writing Program
Marisa Milanese joined the Writing Program faculty in 2005 and has taught seminars on global documentary film, literary journalism, education theory, and college culture. Her interests in transfer theory, civic engagement, and pedagogical innovation helped to shape “Public Writing,” the Writing Program’s first upper-division seminar, which she co-designed. She is a proud mentor of the University’s first cohort of Hayden Scholars. A former journalist, she has written on undergraduate education for The Chronicle of Higher Education and Cognoscenti and on a range of topics for publications including the Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Traveler, Stanford, Travel and Leisure, Elle, and the San Jose Mercury News. In 2012, she was awarded Boston University’s Metcalf Award for Teaching Excellence.
