Ajay Joshi received PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2006. He was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2009 and a Visiting Research Scientist at Google from 2017 to 2018. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Boston University (BU). He received the Google Faculty Research Award 2018 and 2019, Best Paper Award at ASIACCS 2018 and HOST 2023, the BU ECE’s award for Teaching Excellence in 2014, and NSF CAREER award in 2012. Broadly, his research interests include computer architecture, security, digital VLSI, and silicon photonics.

PhD Students
Chathura Niroshan received his B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 2018. He pursued a career in Electronic Design Automation at Synopsys from 2018 to 2020 as an Application Engineer. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Boston University, Boston, MA, USA. His current research interests include computer architecture, reconfigurable computing and hardware verification.

Guowei Yang received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Central South University, Changsha, China in 2019, and his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA in 2021. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Boston University, Boston, MA, USA. His current research interests include computer architecture and the design of hardware accelerators.

Farbin Fayza received her B.S. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 2019. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Boston University, Boston, MA, USA. Her current research interests include designing silicon-photonic computing devices and machine learning.

Shiva Raja (co-advised by Prof. Milos Popovic) received his MS in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University in 2006, and BE in Electrical Engineering from PSG College of Technology, India in 1996. He has architected EDA solutions for signoff statistical timing analysis, signal integrity, reliability, and IR analysis. He recently held a position as a Distinguished Engineer at Cadence and a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Synopsys. He is pursuing his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, at Boston University, Boston, MA. His current research interests include Neuromorphic Computing and Silicon Photonics for computing.

Seyda Guzelhan received her B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2021 and her M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the New York University, New York, NY in 2023. She is currently a Ph.D. student at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Boston University, Boston, MA. Her research interests include Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) for machine learning security and its efficient deployment on GPUs.

Lohit Daksha received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai in May 2024. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Boston University, USA. His interests are exploring and implementing FHE optimizations across various hardware platforms, such as FPGA, ASIC, and GPUs.
