Recruiting students for statewide opportunity to support sustainability projects in Massachusetts.

Passionate about clean energy? The Clean Energy & Environment Legacy Transition (CELT) Initiative is hiring student Municipal Fellows to work with local governments across Massachusetts on sustainability projects, especially in environmental justice communities. Boston University, UMass Lowell, and the state of Massachusetts launched the CELT Initiative in 2024 to advance an equitable energy transition.

As Municipal Fellows, students will have the opportunity to work in various fields, ranging from direct work in sustainability in solar, EV, and geothermal initiatives to other fields such as marketing, communications/social media, data analysis, and more. Gain hands-on experience in research, grant writing, outreach, and policy while networking with state and municipal leaders. Open to all majors and schools statewide. Apply now to be part of the clean energy transition!

Through CELT, BU’s Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) is working in partnership with UMass Lowell to recruit talented students for the fellowship program — supporting municipalities and state agencies in their clean energy strategies. At IGS, researchers oversee data analysis for CELT, drawing on the University’s leadership in data science.
