What Is Convergent Research and Why Is BU Embracing It?
BU Task Force on Convergent Research and Education
Boston University has launched a new Initiative—called the Task Force on Convergent Research and Education—to further integrate diverse fields in scientific discovery and build on the University’s strong foundation in impactful, collaborative work addressing society’s most complex challenges.
As expressed by BU’s Office of the President:
“This effort will further our ability to make transformative contributions to society, remain highly competitive for external funding for our research and educational programs, excel in educating the future workforce, and continue attracting intellectually fearless and ambitious faculty and students to our University.”
IGS Director Benjamin Sovacool is among the Task Force members selected to lead this Initiative, along with other faculty who include several IGS affiliates: Lucy Hutyra (College of Arts & Sciences), Jonathan Levy (School of Public Health), Deborah Carr (College of Arts & Sciences), and Kevin Gallagher (Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies). Kenneth Lutchen, Senior Advisor to the President for Strategy & Innovation (College of Engineering), is co-chair.
