Eric Cueny, affiliated faculty with the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS), is an Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at Boston University. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Wayne State University in 2012 and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2019. Prior to joining the faculty at Boston University in 2022, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania as a part of the Center for Hybrid Approaches in Solar Energy to Liquid Fuels (CHASE), a DOE Energy Innovation Hub.

The main focus of research in the Cueny group is organometallic chemistry and catalysis. Specifically, we are interested in solving challenges in sustainable chemistry by utilizing waste products of society (waste plastic and/or CO2) as the building blocks for the synthesis of commodity chemicals, fuels, and novel materials. To accomplish these goals, new highly active and selective catalysts will be synthesized and studied by our research group.
