Robert Kaufmann, core faculty with the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS) and Professor in the Earth & Environment Department at Boston University, centers his research interests on a range of subjects from land use strategies to oil markets to climate change, and he has extensive knowledge of environmental science and policy. Current projects include investigating the influence of changes in socioeconomic factors on land use and the movements of oil markets.

Kaufmann is also a founding partner of First Fuel Software, which combines mathematical and engineering methods to conduct energy audits of commercial buildings without stepping foot inside, allowing audits to be significantly cheaper and faster.
